Tips to Improve Your Home

1. Get Rid of Clutter. Sellers need to create a neutral and open environment for Buyers. Buyers want to be able to picture themselves in a home. Store personal items, simplify that wall photo gallery, and have that garage sale you have been putting off! You are selling and these are things you do anyway in order to move.

2. Wash Windows. Clean the screens to let more light into the home. A bright home makes a good impression.

3. Keep It Extra Clean. A clean home makes a great first impression and informs Buyers that the home has been well cared for. Do a ‘Spring Cleaning’ by washing fingerprints from light switch plates and walls, refinish hardwood floors, clean out the stove, and more…

4. No Smells. Clean carpeting and drapes to eliminate cooking odors, smoke, and pet smells. Open the windows to air things out.

5. Brighter Bulbs*. Make rooms seem brighter, especially basements and other dark rooms by installing higher wattage bulbs. *Note: Do not exceed wattage limits on light fixtures.

6. Perform Minor Repairs. When you are selling, small problems such as sticky doors, torn screens, cracked caulking, or a dripping faucet, may seem trivial, but it will give buyers the impression that the house is not well maintained.

7. The Yard. Curb appeal is very important. Cut the grass, rake the leaves, trim the bushes, and edge the walks. Put some bright flowers near the entryway.

8. The Driveway. Patch holes and reapply sealant, if applicable.

9. Clean your gutters. Remove leaves and debris from the gutters.

10. The Front Door. Make sure it looks great.
